Yung Lean 2016. Turns 20. Releases sophomore album, Warlord. Embarks on a world tour.
At 16, Yung Lean lived online and rapped about being online. Approaching 20 he is a young adult claiming his place in the world, as a person and as a rapper. Accordingly the lyrics are growing more personal and complex, relevant to his new life experiences.
Yung Lean and SadBoys have always used music to push boundaries using hip hop as a premise to explore other facets of modern music and to create new hybrids. His SadBoys producers are developing alongside him, underlining his progress with their trademark sound which has grown gradually darker and more assaultive, yet is complemented by glistening melodies and a playful attitude.
Although everything originates around music, the group's impact has extended almost equally to fashion: as style icons and through their own exclusive designs and collaborations. Their aesthetics mirror the music with their unique blend of high and low.
